The "United Coalition" commemorated the first spark of the October 2013 revolution under the title "Accountability: A Lifeline for the Nation," in Martyrs' Square in downtown Beirut in front of the Martyrs' Monument. In a statement to "Waradana," United Coalition member Patrick Rassi affirmed that "the judiciary must apply the law and the constitution, and political representatives must fulfill their duties; otherwise, the solution is to implement popular justice."
The coalition, in its statement, noted that "on August 12, 2013, a number of independent Lebanese youth identified the reason for calling for the (October 10 Revolution, a Revolution against oneself) as they submitted a letter to the then-governor of Beirut regarding a gathering in Martyrs' Square on October 10, 2013. This gathering was an occasion to renew the memory of the student revolution at the American University of Beirut on October 10, 1994, which took place 19 years prior and 29 years ago today, embodying the slogan 'One Hand, One University, One Nation,' reflecting the dream of these youths for a nation they wanted to fight for."
The coalition added, "Ten years have passed, and these youths' beliefs have fallen, the state and the nation have collapsed, and the Lebanese are in desperate need of a renewal of resolve, memory, and a genuine revolution—one that truly serves as a lifeline for Lebanon."
