The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated that "increasing the enforcement of aid through land crossings into Gaza is the only thing that can help prevent famine in the densely populated area." Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus noted that "children are dying due to malnutrition, disease, and lack of clean water and sanitation facilities." He added that "the future of an entire generation is at serious risk." Tedros stated that "recent efforts to deliver food by air and sea are welcome, but only increasing the entry of aid through land crossings will enable widespread aid delivery to avert famine." He continued by saying: "Once again, we ask Israel to open more crossings and expedite the entry and delivery of water, food, medical supplies, and other humanitarian aid to Gaza and within it." He pointed out that the World Health Organization's requests to deliver supplies to the Gaza Strip are often halted or denied.
