Title: Qablan: Reality Forces Everyone to Discuss Consensus Democracy

The distinguished Ja'fari Mufti, Sheikh Ahmad Qablan, stated that "one of our greatest prides today is what the resistance is doing on the southern front, as the issue pertains to the country and the region, and the sovereignty dispute is a disgrace." During a memorial celebration at the Husseiniyah in the town of Masn'a al-Zahra in western Baalbek, he indicated that "his stance on the presidential settlement is linked to protecting national decision-making through a presidential settlement. What applies in a country governed by a constitution and law does not apply in a country like Lebanon, which is ruled by its parties' dependencies on others and lives amidst a regional inferno, infused with sectarianism at its roots and in the very essence of its citizens' lives." Mufti Qablan called for "returning to the parliamentary council that represents the people and all political forces and parties, making it a platform for political dialogue. The reality compels everyone to discuss consensus democracy with a consensual charter, as the era of the political contractor has ended, and the political stock exchange game is not suitable for leading a nation."
