Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has decided to cancel her engagements today, Saturday, due to suffering a minor neck injury from an assault she experienced on Friday at the hands of a man who has since been apprehended, according to her office.

Her office stated, "After the assault yesterday, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was taken to Rigshospitalet for medical examination. The attack resulted in a minor neck injury." It also noted that she is "disturbed by the incident" and has canceled her scheduled activities for Saturday.

Local media reported that the man who reportedly assaulted the Prime Minister in central Copenhagen will appear at a pre-trial hearing today, Saturday. Police confirmed the "incident with the Prime Minister" and stated that a 39-year-old man was arrested on Friday.
