Trap of the "Booby-Trapped Dog": Hamas Lures Israeli Soldiers!

Trap of the

As part of building inspections in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army uses the canine unit "Oketz" in attempts to reach Hamas fighters. In a recent incident related to this unit, Hamas fighters attempted to lure Israeli soldiers into a trap known as the "booby-trapped dog."

About two weeks ago, the soldiers responsible for the unit sent a combat dog into a building in the Jabalia camp, but it did not return. The unit then used a drone to scan the building for the dog. Shortly thereafter, the dog was found lying on the sidewalk next to the building, and it was unclear whether it was still alive.

When the soldiers arrived at the scene, the dog had vanished again, but they later found it lying on the ground next to an adjacent building. The soldiers suspected that Hamas fighters had secretly killed the dog and concealed explosives under its body in an attempt to lure them into an explosives trap, but the soldiers were able to defuse the explosives without any injuries.

Israel claims that its dogs support elite "commando" units and save soldiers' lives, but activists argue that the dogs are used inappropriately to intimidate people.
