Civil Defense Warns of Drowning Risk Due to Water Currents

The General Directorate of Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities stated in a press release that "due to the high waves observed today along the Lebanese coast, along with strong winds and active marine currents influenced by the intensifying tidal movements, we draw the attention of beachgoers to the necessity of adhering to public safety guidelines when heading to the sea, especially after the recent increase in drowning incidents. We urge individuals not to rush into rescue attempts for those in imminent danger, as this may expose them to drowning risk themselves due to their lack of the required expertise to intervene in such situations." The General Directorate also reminded citizens, residents, and tourists to call 125 for assistance when necessary.
