Calm in the Dora Area After a Noisy Night; Al-Haj: Comprehensive Survey of the Area Needed

After the altercation that took place last night between Lebanese youths and a number of Syrian refugees in the Dora area, which resulted in several injuries, a cautious calm currently prevails following a tumultuous night that nearly escalated to a more dangerous situation without the swift intervention of the army and security forces, which worked to resolve the incident and its aftermath. In this context, MP Razi Al-Haj, a member of the "Strong Republic" bloc who followed the altercation and communicated with army leadership, called for a comprehensive survey of the entire Dora - Bouchrieh - Sad - Jdeideh - Sin el-Fil - Nabaa - Burj Hammoud area.

For his part, the Mukhtar of Bouchrieh, Charbel Khoury, told "Voice of Lebanon": "The altercation began between a Syrian young man and a Lebanese girl over a traffic accident, where the young man attacked her, and immediately, a number of Syrians working in a factory in Dora intervened and assaulted the girl's brother. Then, the residents of the area gathered in front of the factory and surrounded it, waiting for the army command to arrive, which led to the evacuation of the factory and the arrest of the Syrians." Khoury urged the Mount Lebanon governor to intervene to regulate Syrian employment in the area, as the municipality is defunct.
