Six Killed in Russian Missile Strikes on Ukraine

The Ukrainian military and local officials announced early Wednesday morning that Russian missiles struck civilian buildings in the Ukrainian port city of Odesa on the Black Sea and in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine overnight, resulting in at least six deaths. The military noted that three of the deceased in Odesa were working at a warehouse for a retail chain when a missile hit it, igniting a fire and injuring seven others there. The military stated, "Debris clearance is ongoing; there may be people trapped underneath."

The Southern Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed that Russia launched four cruise missiles at Odesa. The military had previously mentioned that two missiles were destroyed before they reached their targets.

The Southern Command said via the Telegram app: "As a result of an air battle and a series of explosions, a business center, an educational institution, a residential complex, food institutions, and shops in the city center were damaged."

Serhii Bratchuk, spokesperson for the military administration in Odesa, posted a video and photos showing multi-story buildings that had lost parts of their walls and shattered windows, along with firefighting teams battling flames in what appeared to be a warehouse.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, governor of the Donetsk region, reported that Russian forces killed three civilians in another missile strike, adding that two people were killed in Kramatorsk and a third in Kostiantynivka. He stated: "The missiles hit private homes in the two cities and caused significant damage. At least five private homes were destroyed, and more than 20 homes were damaged in Kramatorsk. In Kostiantynivka, two homes were destroyed, and 55 were damaged."

The Ukrainian Air Force announced that it had destroyed three missiles and nine drones overnight.

On the other hand, the administration appointed by Russia in the Ukrainian city of Nova Kakhovka reported Wednesday that Ukrainian forces shelled a residential area in the city, resulting in one injury. They noted that the shelling in the nearby village of Blodovoye disrupted the power supply there. The Russian Ministry of Defense indicated that Ukrainian forces attempted to launch attacks on three fronts in Donetsk and Zaporizhia in the last 24 hours. The ministry stated in a statement that they targeted Ukrainian weapon depots and reserve troops, as well as foreign mercenaries in overnight strikes, claiming that Ukrainian forces suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment.
