Canadian police announced on Saturday that they have charged a woman returning from Syria with terrorism-related offenses after investigating allegations that she went to join the ISIS organization. The police stated in a release that Kimberly Paulman (51 years old) has been charged with two counts related to leaving Canada to participate in the activities of a terrorist group and participating in the activities of a terrorist group. The charges under Section 83 of the Criminal Code arise from an investigation into allegations that Paulman traveled to Syria from Canada in 2015 to join ISIS. Paulman was repatriated to Canada in 2022, but no criminal charges were initially laid against her, according to her attorney at the time.
