Russian media reported on Saturday that Russian forces have managed to take control of a new town in eastern Ukraine. The Interfax news agency quoted the Russian Ministry of Defense stating that Russian troops seized the village of Sokil, northwest of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine. Meanwhile, Russian forces are continuing their advance in the center of the town of New York, northeast of Avdiivka, as well as in the nearby villages of Torske in Donetsk, according to the American War Studies Center. Additionally, Russian troops are advancing in the areas of Karlivka, Voskhod, north of the town of Bobida, and in the center of Krasnohorivka, all located northwest and west of the city of Donetsk, the capital of the region of the same name. Just a few days ago, Russian forces breached Ukrainian defenses in the eastern part of the town of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk, fully controlling that part of the city located east of the Donetsk Channel, as well as the Novyi area, located south of Chasiv Yar and west of the channel. This is the sixth town and village that Russian forces have taken control of in less than a week.
