Netherlands Upsets Turkey and Qualifies for Euro 2024 Semi-Finals

The Netherlands national team turned the tables on Turkey, defeating them 2-1 on Saturday evening, thus advancing to the semi-finals of the UEFA European Championship in Germany. Turkey failed to maintain their lead established by a goal from Samet Akaydın in the 35th minute of the first half. The Netherlands equalized with a goal from defender Stefan de Vrij in the 70th minute. Six minutes later, the Dutch team, champions of Europe in 1988, secured their qualification with an own goal from Turkish player Mert Müldör. The Netherlands will face England in the semi-finals next Wednesday in Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park. The English team qualified by defeating Switzerland 5-3 on penalties after a goalless draw in both regular and extra time.
