Ukrainian Operation in the Black Sea: Russia Threatens to Respond

Ukrainian media revealed, based on sources from the State Security Service, that the Ukrainian Navy carried out a new special operation in the Black Sea, during which a Russian oil tanker was detonated. The head of the Ukrainian intelligence agency, Kyrylo Budanov, stated that any explosion targeting the Crimean bridge or a Russian ship is considered a "logical and effective step."

The Russian Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport reported early Saturday that the engine room of the Russian tanker (S.I.G.) sustained damage near the Crimean Peninsula after being attacked by a maritime drone. The agency stated in a report: "The tanker (S.I.G.) was hit with a hole in the engine room near the waterline on the right side, initially as a result of being attacked by a maritime drone."

It was noted that there were no injuries from the attack. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on Saturday that Russia strongly condemns what she described as a "terrorist attack" by Ukraine on one of its civilian ships in the Kerch Strait, adding that Russia will respond to this attack and hold those responsible accountable.
