Elham Shahin Named Honorary President of the French Très Court International Film Festival

The management of the Très Court International Film Festival has announced the selection of actress Elham Shahin as the honorary president for its 26th edition, which will take place in Egypt during the first week of June and last for 10 days. The festival will include screenings for the international competition, the VS Film competition, and seminars and workshops focused on very short films that do not exceed 4 minutes in length.

Elham Shahin expressed her happiness with this choice and confirmed that the festival has successfully established its presence in Egypt recently. She noted that very short films represent the current trends on social media, where these films have become part of daily life and achieve global reach. She mentioned that the festival is distinguished as the first of its kind that brings together professional filmmakers and amateurs in its competitions, with the only requirement for participation being the quality of the work.

Dr. Osama Abou-Nar, the festival president, emphasized that the presence of Elham Shahin as honorary president will significantly enhance the festival, highlighting that she is one of the first Arab stars to be honored by the festival for her extensive film history, as well as her ongoing support for young creatives through both her personal film productions and their initial works.

The international competition films will be screened in 30 countries. Dr. Reem Lotfy, the official representative of the festival, stated that this year's edition will include many surprises that will be announced in due time. She mentioned that the festival will include an international competition as well as a special competition for Egypt, with announcements about participation opening in the coming weeks, alongside the international competition showcasing films in 30 countries simultaneously.

Ziad Basemir, the general coordinator of the Très Court Festival, indicated an expansion in the festival's activities this year, with film screenings to take place at numerous cultural and cinematic venues in Cairo and Alexandria, including some sites hosting screenings for the first time. He revealed that the festival will organize several workshops focused on creating very short films, featuring a selection of prominent filmmakers in the fields of writing, cinematography, and directing.

The Très Court Film Festival is an international French festival dedicated to very short films, which do not exceed 4 minutes in length. Its first edition was launched years before the advent of the YouTube platform, hosting screenings in nearly 30 countries around the world each year at the same time. Egypt was among the first countries to host screenings since 2015 and launched a parallel international competition to provide additional opportunities for filmmakers whose works could not participate in the French competition.
