Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed today, Thursday, that "the West's victory over Russia is an illusion, and those who know history and geography can reflect on this," stating that the security agreements between the West and Kyiv are a continuation of the farce staged by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In a press conference held in Moscow regarding the results of 2023, Lavrov said, "The security agreements between Ukraine and European countries carry no binding points; they are merely promises and a continuation of the farcical theater for which Zelensky is known from his previous profession."
Lavrov emphasized that "the longer the West procrastinates in conducting negotiations, the more difficult these negotiations will become," reiterating that the hope for a "Western victory" over Russia is an illusion that can be examined by those who understand the history and geography of the West. He stated that "the relationship between Russia and China is experiencing the best period in its centuries-long history," noting that "Russia will do everything it can to make international relations more democratic."
In a separate context, Lavrov asserted that "the United States and Britain have disregarded international law by targeting Yemen," pointing out that "the United Nations did not grant the United States the right to strike Yemen as was done in Libya, which is a violation of the law." He considered that "the semi-closed communications between the United States, Israel, and Arab countries regarding Palestine will not succeed," explaining that "during the upcoming United Nations Security Council meeting, we will propose resuming collective settlement efforts regarding Palestine," arguing that "the main direction of efforts related to Palestine should be the establishment of a Palestinian state." He hoped "that Israel will come to the conclusion that a Palestinian state is necessary, as violence will continue in Gaza without the existence of such a state," affirming that "Moscow is ready to play an active role in ensuring a comprehensive resolution of the conflict in the Middle East."
