Experts at Kaspersky Lab have warned that hackers have recently begun using new fraudulent methods to hack the accounts of Telegram users. Kaspersky Lab experts indicated that "scammers and hackers have recently started sending fraudulent messages to Telegram users in Russia, claiming that users can withdraw digital currencies from the game Hamster Kombat and convert them into rubles. The message asks the user to log into their Telegram account through a specific link and enter their email account details, thereby stealing their account information and compromising their accounts." Regarding the issue, Kaspersky Lab's lead content analyst, Olga Svistunova, stated: "The fraudulent messages that appear to Telegram users mislead them into believing that money transfers will occur within 15 minutes after logging in via the link in the message. To protect your Telegram account, it is important to set up two-factor authentication for logging in and not to click on links from suspicious messages." Available information indicates that phishing attempts against Telegram users in the first half of this year were 22% higher compared to the same period last year.
