Member of the "Development and Liberation" bloc, MP Qasim Hashim, indicated that "what is happening on the southern borders is a natural occurrence with the presence of a barbaric enemy that commits crimes in all its forms." He emphasized that "what puts an end to its adventures is the equation of deterrence and fear, which has proven effective and has been a protective factor for our nation, despite what some may say. If Lebanon did not possess elements of strength, the Israeli enemy would have extended its aggression wider and more grotesquely, and the crimes being committed in Gaza are a testament to what is being perpetrated against children and women, all seen by the world that claims civilization and champions human rights, from which it is detached."
During a tour of the border area, Hashim stated: "In light of the daily aggression against the southern border villages from Shebaa and Arqoub to the Marjeyoun border area and all its villages, extending to Naqoura, it has become imperative for the government to work on supporting the resilience of the residents of these villages who are clinging to their land despite the shelling and targeting of residential neighborhoods, and the impact on their livelihoods in the orchards and daily work. It is unacceptable to wait for the displacement of these people to provide them with some necessities."
He concluded: "A rapid plan is required to provide the needs and requirements of the border villages, secure funding, and supply the South Lebanon Council and relief institutions with what they need to fulfill their duties towards the people, because their staying in their land despite terrorism and aggression is a national act and a support and consolidation for the government and a defense of the entire homeland."
