Egypt: "Important" Statement Regarding Power Cuts

Egypt:

The Electricity Holding Company in Egypt announced that, in coordination with the Ministries of Electricity and Petroleum, a plan to reduce loads will be implemented for two hours. It stated, "No area will experience cuts longer than two hours, starting today, July 1, 2024," which will now run from 3 PM to 7 PM, distributed across all regions of the Arab Republic.

Several citizens in Egypt circulated complaints on social media about power outages lasting additional hours after the supply returned from three hours of interruption during the day. In their comments, citizens expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of prior announcements regarding emergency power outage times that affected all provinces today, as the outage durations changed to three hours instead of two.

After the official announcement about the increase in load-shedding hours to three hours today and tomorrow only, residents were surprised by another outage occurring this evening after the planned hours ended. Today’s power cut caused a wave of anger among citizens, who expressed their frustrations on social media platforms, particularly Facebook, highlighting the sudden disruption's impact on many, especially those using elevators and high school students, whose examination days coincided with the outages.
