Sami Gemayel, the head of the Kataeb Party, stated that Lebanon is in a dangerous position, emphasizing that we cannot continue like this as we have reached a point of no return. He called for radical change and awareness from those leading the country into the unknown; otherwise, the country is heading towards perilous places that we already know where they have led us before.
He reaffirmed support for the Lebanese people and the commitment to not surrender, asking all Kataeb members to understand that "their party has entered a new phase, and starting today, our struggle is existential and identity-based, no longer a traditional political struggle." He stated that they are not willing to coexist with an armed militia in Lebanon, urging the opposition to "shift from traditional political methods to a more essential existential and identity-based stance, as Lebanon is required to make exceptional decisions; otherwise, we will not be capable of responsibility."
After an extraordinary meeting of the political bureau in the Kahal area of the Aley district, Gemayel called on the army and its leadership to understand that "the approach taken by Hezbollah and its militias will lead the country to dangerous places," stressing that if the army does not assume its responsibility to protect the Lebanese and curb the violations, it too will be "a silent witness to what the country can reach." He asserted that "the army cannot protect or conceal the transfer of weapons, ammunition, and armed individuals, nor the threats faced by the Lebanese daily."
He said that "we have reached a place where crying over ruins is of no use; there must be a radical change and awareness from those leading the country into the unknown; otherwise, the country is headed to dangerous places we know where they have taken us in the past. We understand the value of war and its difficulties, and this is what we warn against, and it requires the team practicing these behaviors to know that the Lebanese are not an easy target." He confirmed that the Lebanese people are resistant and will not accept living without freedom and dignity, having fought for thousands of years to maintain their dignity, and they will not surrender.
