Those in power continue to impoverish and starve the Lebanese people, undermining all the pillars of their resilience in facing the repercussions of the crisis. "The nation is in danger and the people are receiving blows," warned Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi yesterday, criticizing the ongoing obstruction of the presidential election, which he sees as a necessary pathway to resolving all the crises gripping the country. In this context, Bcharre expressed the rejection of the ongoing "debate back and forth" and the "wrong method" adopted by parliamentary blocs in the presidential election process.
Simultaneously, the harshest attack from the head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, against the "resistance axis," which is obstructing the presidential elections, was recorded yesterday. He described the obstruction of the presidential election by this axis as "an act of utmost disgrace that strikes democracy and nationality in Lebanon." However, he emphasized that what is happening in the presidential election today is "not due to the might of the resistance axis but rather due to the weakness of those who should bear responsibility and refuse to do so." He added: "What we need are people who take responsibility, and citizens who are daily scorched by the crisis must demand from the elected representative, as their deputy, to vote in the presidential election for a serious president who restores the natural right to the presidency." He pointed out that "the other team is obstructing the presidential elections because they want a president in their service, a president for them and not for the Lebanese people. This is what they mean when they say they want a president 'to relieve them.' Meanwhile, what we want is to relieve the country and not this team."
On the other side, former President Michel Aoun appeared on screen through "OTV," reiterating his criticism of House Speaker Nabih Berri as the primary responsible for protecting corruption in the republic. He confirmed that "Berri and his followers" obstructed his presidency and prevented reforms, showcasing a list of "18 items" that he claimed were obstructed by "the Speaker of the House who ruled instead of the judiciary and violated the systems of governance, exceeding his legislative powers."
In contrast, Aoun remained silent on any question regarding his relationship with Hezbollah, merely indicating that "the session of clarification with the party needs to happen with Jebran" Bassil, revealing for the first time publicly that the Mar Mikhael understanding is "Jebran's work" with Hezbollah, and today he wishes to amend and develop it, "and I support him in that."
