Bahrain: Civil Defense Extinguishes Fire at Old Manama Souq

The Bahraini Ministry of Interior announced today, Thursday, that the Civil Defense extinguished a fire that broke out in several buildings and commercial shops at the Old Manama Souq.

According to the statement, Civil Defense teams were able to extinguish the fire that erupted in several residential buildings and shops in the area. Major General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Head of Public Security, indicated that Civil Defense teams and vehicles arrived at the fire site within 5 minutes of receiving the report at 4:22 PM. They immediately commenced rescue operations, extinguished the fire, and managed to control it, preventing it from spreading, under the leadership of the Director General of Civil Defense. He noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

Al Hassan confirmed that cooling operations are underway to prevent the fire from reigniting. He reported that 9 individuals suffered injuries and cases of suffocation, but there were no fatalities, adding that their condition is stable after the National Ambulance provided first aid to some of them on-site and transported others to the hospital for treatment.
