The "Lebanon Strong" bloc has renewed its warning about the "danger of state disintegration due to the continued vacancy in the presidency, amidst the rigidity of some parliamentary blocs' positions, whether by rejecting consultation, attempting to impose their candidate, refusing to agree on a name, or refusing to adhere to securing the quorum. What is required is for positions to evolve towards a solution that leads to the election of a president either through consensus or democratic competition."
The bloc stated in a statement, following its regular meeting chaired by MP Gibran Bassil, that "the danger of the expansion of Israeli aggression against Lebanon necessitates solidarity among the Lebanese against the enemy, emphasizing the necessity of protecting Lebanon from any expansion of the war resulting from military support for the Palestinians in the Gaza war, even if it has its moral and humanitarian justifications."
The bloc demanded that "the relevant authorities in the state take the necessary legal measures against the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Lebanon and hold it accountable for its failure to provide the state with data regarding Syrian displaced persons to distinguish between those who qualify as security displaced persons and those who qualify as economic displaced persons."
The bloc also recalled the responsibility of Minister Pierre Abou Assi from the Lebanese Forces, who was in charge of the Ministry of Social Affairs and deliberately halted the registration of displaced persons that was ongoing at that time, causing the chaos that Lebanon is currently paying for.
