Israeli army spokesperson Avichai Adraee announced today, Monday, the "arrest of the armed individual who committed the terrorist act that resulted in the death of Benjamin Ahimeir." He added, "It has been permitted for publication that during the night, as part of a joint operation by the Israel Security Agency, the Israel Police, and the Israel Defense Forces, special police unit fighters and the Israel Security Agency arrested a 21-year-old named Ahmad Dawabsheh from the village of Douma."
He continued, "Immediately after the terrorist act occurred, the Israel Security Agency and the Israel Defense Forces acted through focused intelligence and operational efforts to try to track down the identity of the armed individual." He pointed out that "over the past twenty-four hours, a significant development was recorded in the investigation, leading the forces to raid the village of Douma at night and arrest the suspect."
Furthermore, he noted, "During the preliminary investigation, Dawabsheh confessed to carrying out the terrorist act that resulted in the death of Benjamin Ahimeir, may he rest in peace, a 14-year-old resident of Jerusalem ten days ago on the date of 12.4, near the Malachi Hashalom farm." He confirmed that "the armed individual was transferred for further investigation by the Israel Security Agency."
The murder of Ahimeir (14 years old) under mysterious circumstances in the West Bank earlier this month sparked extensive retaliatory reactions from settlers who attacked Palestinian villages and set fire to Palestinian homes and vehicles.
