The head of the Syndicate of Travel and Tourism Offices, Jean Aboud, confirmed that "the summer season is very promising and active, and tourism is thriving on all levels," revealing that "the results recorded so far have surpassed all expectations." He stated in a release: "Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut receives about 125 flights daily compared to 90 flights on regular days, while the number of arrivals in Lebanon per day has exceeded 21,000 people."
Aboud disclosed that "one of the most positive indicators of this scene is that the percentage of tourists among the total arrivals in Lebanon has exceeded 40% compared to 30% during the summer season of 2022, which is very important economically." He predicted that "the number of arrivals in Lebanon will exceed two million, while the number of Arab and foreign tourists during the summer season will exceed 800,000 tourists." He also anticipated that "the total number of Arab and foreign tourists during the year 2023 will exceed one million and 700,000 tourists," noting that "statistics from the Ministry of Tourism showed the entry of 400,000 tourists into Lebanon during the first four months of this year."
He added: "Noteworthy is the steady increase in the number of European tourists, whose share has exceeded 40% of the total tourists coming to Lebanon. We are also witnessing an increase in the percentage of Jordanian, Iraqi, and Egyptian tourists from 30% to 35%." Aboud pointed out that "the influx of Gulf tourists to Lebanon has contradicted expectations, as it has remained modest despite the political agreements taking place in the region."
