Bayern Munich, competing in the German Bundesliga, announced on Sunday the signing of winger Michael Olise on a five-year contract from Crystal Palace. German media reports indicated that Bayern will pay €60 million ($64.15 million), including add-ons, to bring the 22-year-old player, who was born in London, to the Allianz Arena.
Olise scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 19 matches last season despite injury troubles. Olise stated, "I want to prove myself at the highest levels and help Bayern win as many titles as possible in the coming years."
Reports suggested that several clubs, including Chelsea and Newcastle United, were interested in acquiring the player before he ultimately chose to work with coach Vincent Kompany.
Despite being born in England, Olise has played seven matches for the French U21 national team as he was born to a French-Algerian mother. He has been selected for the French squad participating in the Olympic Games in Paris, which starts in July.
