German midfielder Toni Kroos of Real Madrid admitted he was angry with his teammate Antonio Rudiger after Rudiger's altercation with Sergio Ramos, the Sevilla defender. Real Madrid drew with Sevilla 1-1 last Saturday during the tenth round of the 2023-2024 La Liga season, held at the "Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan" stadium.
The highlight of the match was the scuffle that occurred between former Real Madrid captain Ramos and Rudiger, along with the controversial moments between them. In his weekly podcast alongside his brother Felix, Kroos discussed this incident specifically and the anticipated clash against Barcelona in next Saturday's El Clasico, which is part of the eleventh round of La Liga.
Kroos began by talking about the Barcelona matchup, saying, "Do you want me to tell you that this match will determine the league? Well, it will not." He added, "It's a very important match, of course, because it's El Clasico; in other words, this match has its special classification." He continued, "We will go there to win, if we do, we will be four points ahead of Barcelona, and that won't mean anything, and if we lose, we will fall two points behind Barcelona, which also doesn't mean anything."
The German midfielder emphasized, "But it's clear we want to win; El Clasico remains El Clasico." Regarding the scuffle between Ramos and Rudiger, Kroos remarked, "I was a bit away from what happened due to my position. In the end, there was that little conflict, and I suggested to Ramos to calm the rest of the Sevilla players." He added, "It worked out, except with the fans; that's another issue, but on the pitch, things soon calmed down again. Then we saw each other in the locker room; it was nice."
Kroos' brother did not hesitate to ask for more clarification about the situation, especially when Ramos grabbed Rudiger's cheeks in an attempt to provoke him. Kroos said, "Ramos put a smile on his face; he heated things up. As for Antonio, I must say: he was wrong." He concluded, "He was ready to fight, but next week we have El Clasico, which means he couldn't risk getting a yellow card that would keep him out of the match; maybe that slowed him down a bit, or else it would have been more fun."
