The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, thanked everyone who embraced the Quran and gathered yesterday to raise their voices against any desecration or insult.
During the central Ashura memorial in the southern suburbs of Beirut, he stated: "We have witnessed strong and appropriate popular movements in many Islamic countries. The Iraqi government's initiative to take a strong stance by expelling the Swedish ambassador from Iraq and threatening to sever relations with Sweden is still prominent." He mentioned that "Sweden could be classified as a state fighting Islam and Muslims." He considered that "the departure of the Swedish ambassador is a demand for us as the Lebanese people, and we were told that the Lebanese ambassador in Sweden is currently in Lebanon, and this is something we will follow up on."
Nasrallah emphasized that "notifying Swedish ambassadors in Islamic countries of the condemnation is a good step, but it is not enough, and we must not be deceived by apologies." He pointed out that "these governments must prevent any attacks on the Holy Quran and our sacred symbols."
He continued: "Lebanon is in a politically and security-sensitive situation, and the country cannot bear any small or large conflicts. Therefore, I say to all Lebanese, especially Muslims and particularly the enthusiastic youth, that there are religious and political references that bear the responsibility and guide this confrontation, urging them not to take any individual initiatives outside of the general directions. Because some individual initiatives, even if well-intentioned, may be detrimental to the goal. This is a battle that is not about being reactive, but about achieving victory with strong, useful, and productive tools, and it is not permissible in Lebanon to open the door to anyone trying to fish in troubled waters."
