The Egyptian Public Prosecution announced the details of Egyptian Attorney General Mohamed Shawki's visit to Moscow, marking his first visit to enhance cooperation with Russia. The Public Prosecution stated that the visit's agenda included a bilateral meeting between the Egyptian and Russian Attorney Generals and the signing of memoranda of understanding in the fields of judicial cooperation and training between the two prosecutorial bodies, as well as an agreement on a joint exchange training program until 2026.

The signed memorandum includes mechanisms to enhance cooperation in combating crimes, particularly those related to terrorism, extremism, money laundering, cybercrime, information technology, and communications crimes, especially those committed using cryptocurrency. It also addresses transnational crimes such as human trafficking, illegal migration, illicit trafficking of organs and human tissues, and environmental crimes.

These memoranda represent a shared vision of both prosecutorial bodies to enhance justice and combat crimes in all forms, particularly those committed by organized criminal groups. They also signify a strategic step toward strengthening collective capabilities to face legal challenges, including cyber threats, financial crimes, and illicit activities.

In light of the Egyptian Attorney General's interest in supporting cooperation between the Egyptian and Russian prosecutorial bodies, he emphasized the importance of teaching the Russian language to members of the Egyptian Public Prosecution in cooperation with the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Cairo, to be conducted through the Criminal Research and Training Institute at the Attorney General's Office.

In the coming days, the Attorney General of the Arab Republic of Egypt will lead a delegation from the Egyptian Public Prosecution for the first time at the sixth meeting of the Heads of the Public Prosecutions and Attorney General Offices of the BRICS countries, scheduled to be held in Saint Petersburg, Russia, following Egypt's recent accession to the BRICS agreement earlier this year.
