What Trump Said to His Guards During the Assassination Attempt

On Sunday, the Washington Post published the dialogue between former U.S. President Donald Trump and his security personnel moments after an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania. At the moment gunshots were heard, Trump grabbed his right ear and crouched under the platform. As his Secret Service agents approached him and surrounded him to get him off the stage, Trump lost his shoe, leading to a brief exchange:

Trump: "Let me put on my shoe."

Security agent: "I understand you, sir. Your head is bleeding."

Trump: "Let me put on my shoe."

Despite this, Trump's shoe was left on the stage after the presidential candidate was taken away. Trump faced an assassination attempt while giving a speech at an election rally in Pennsylvania, and a video recorded the moment of the attempt just after he took the stage, where he was escorted by Secret Service with blood running down the side of his face. Trump confirmed on social media that he was shot in "the upper part of his right ear." Pennsylvania police reported that one person was killed in the incident and two others were critically injured.
