The Palestinian Authority for Prisoners' Affairs and Released Prisoners reported early this morning that a leader of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the West Bank died after being transferred from an Israeli prison to a hospital. The agency stated that "Mustafa Mohammed Abu Ara (63 years old) died due to a serious deterioration in his health condition, which led to his transfer from Ramon Prison to a hospital." It noted that "prior to his arrest, he suffered from severe health problems and required intensive medical follow-up, but since the moment of his detention, Sheikh Abu Ara, like all other prisoners, faced unprecedented crimes and measures since the onset of the extermination war." They considered that "Abu Ara has been subjected to a slow killing process since his arrest in October, denying him medical treatment." There was no immediate comment from Israel. Recently, Palestinian organizations reported that at least 18 Palestinians have died during their detention in Israel since the outbreak of the Gaza war on October 7.
