Jordan's King Calls on Arab Foreign Ministers to

Jordan's King Abdullah II called today for the continuation of Arab coordination to "speak with one voice to the international community regarding the serious developments in Gaza." During his meeting with several Arab foreign ministers participating in the Amman-Gaza ministerial meeting hosted by Jordan, aimed at halting the war in Gaza, the king emphasized that "it is the duty of Arab countries to pressure the international community and effective global powers to stop the war in Gaza, provide continuous aid to the region, and protect civilians." He reiterated Jordan's condemnation of the massacres committed against innocent civilians in the territory, once again warning that the continuation of the war will lead to an explosion of the situation in the region.

The king stated, "We reject any attempt to separate the West Bank from the Gaza Strip, and the military solution will not succeed in ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is imperative to continue pressuring the international community to stop the war, as its continuation will lead to an escalation in the region."

He also condemned the Israeli escalation in the West Bank and stressed "the necessity of continuing to support the Palestinian National Authority." The king called for ongoing support for international organizations working in the sector, particularly the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

King Abdullah noted that "the military or security solution will not succeed in ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but rather the only path is a political solution to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution." He expressed Jordan's complete rejection of "any attempt to separate the West Bank from the Gaza Strip, as they are extensions of one Palestinian state."

Moreover, he highlighted Jordan's firm position in supporting the Palestinian brothers in achieving their legitimate rights to establish an independent state with sovereignty along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

A coordinating meeting was held in Amman among a number of Arab foreign ministers and the Palestine Liberation Organization, as part of efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, which has led to a humanitarian disaster.
