Iraqi Transport Minister Razak Muhibis Al-Saadawi issued several directives regarding the services provided at Baghdad and Basra airports on Tuesday. The media office of the Transport Ministry stated that "the Minister directed the management of airports and air navigation to find urgent and quick solutions to all issues and obstacles that may hinder the improvement of services provided to travelers at Baghdad and Basra International Airports," emphasizing the importance of caring for services and providing all facilities for travelers.
The statement added that "Al-Saadawi instructed to provide transportation means for individuals with disabilities within Basra Airport and to rehabilitate the duty-free shop in the airport according to legal and administrative frameworks that align with the public interest." It also highlighted that "the Minister has directed the study of the proposal to waive some security procedures at the airports and reduce restrictions to ensure the smooth flow of travel, in coordination with airport security and related specialized entities."
Al-Saadawi confirmed that "the airport staff will undergo training courses that meet international aviation standards," mentioning that "the ministry will provide a special taxi service for Basra Airport after completing the study." He noted that "the directives included a reassessment of several contracts related to the airports and evaluating their feasibility and importance for the public good," stressing that all contracts should align with global practices and specifications.
