Operations at Erbil Airport in Iraq have ceased following the downing of an explosive drone near the airport. The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, reported today that "lawless groups are attempting to attack Iraqi bases, some of which host advisors from the international coalition, by sending a rigged drone near Erbil Civil Airport. This incident resulted in injuries and disrupted airport operations, affecting the timing of civil flights." The general affirmed that "such criminal acts aim to harm Iraq's interests and its regional and international relations. While we condemn this terrorist act, we also assert that the Iraqi security forces, supported by intelligence efforts, will reach those responsible to bring them to justice to receive their punishment."
