Israeli police suspect that a 33-year-old woman killed her 6-year-old son in their apartment in Herzliya before heading to a shopping center in the city armed with an axe, where she attacked a security guard outside. The child's body was found in their home in Herzliya on Tuesday.
The police stated that a large number of officers were called to the crime scene. The discovery of the body apparently occurred after the suspect was arrested outside the shopping center following a confrontation with the security guard.
In a video posted on social media, a woman can be seen walking towards the entrance of the shopping center holding an axe and intermittently smiling. As she approaches the shopping center, she begins to attack the guard with the axe, but he managed to wrestle the axe away from her.
The police said they quickly arrived at the scene and arrested the woman, who has been identified as a 33-year-old resident of Herzliya. According to Israeli media reports, after her arrest, the police went to her home address, where they found the body of the young boy, who was reported to be her son.
