Media personality Sahar Abbas criticized the president of the Iraqi Journalists' Syndicate on her Instagram story following her expulsion from Dijlah TV, coinciding with the president's attendance at the Arab Media Summit in Dubai. She raised the question, “Is it logical, reasonable, or wise for the president of the Iraqi Journalists' Syndicate to roam in Dubai attending what is called the Arab Media Summit while leaving behind his constituents subjected to imprisonment, stabbings, and defamation through funded pages and electronic armies affiliated with various individuals, just for daring to criticize them?”
Abbas continued, questioning the president's role in communicating with security and relevant bodies to shut down websites that have tarnished reputations and honor or even to identify their sponsors or owners. She criticized the Iraqi Journalists' Syndicate, likening it to a spider's web compared to its past standing.
She expressed, “It is a shameful mark on the history of the syndicate, with you as its president, to leave a journalist imprisoned for months simply for expressing an opinion or criticizing a fragile character.”
Abbas further stated that she had reached her limit as she witnessed campaigns against her that had never been seen before, driven solely by “envy” of the status and prestige granted to her since birth. She called on the syndicate president to find swift solutions.
She concluded, saying, “I speak to you now with all due respect and hope that you see a president of journalists and not a president for travel, tourism, and trade, and I hope my message in the last sentence does not require further clarification one day.”
