Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned U.S. officials that delaying arms shipments to Israel will lead to a situation that brings war closer with Hezbollah. The Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom noted that this serious warning from the Prime Minister came during closed discussions with senior administration officials regarding a potential war in Lebanon, as well as the unprecedented pressure Netanyahu is exerting on U.S. President Joe Biden and his administration.
Furthermore, it emphasized that for three months, senior officials in the Defense Ministry have warned of a significant slowdown in arms shipments. During discussions with the Americans, Israel expressed its dissatisfaction with the ongoing delays. However, the Prime Minister also explicitly warned in talks with Americans that the delays in arms would only lead to a full-scale war with Hezbollah.
The report stated that these warnings are being issued by Netanyahu and other senior officials in the security establishment to their American counterparts, but the Americans have so far denied the existence of a problem or announced that they would address it without any changes. Senior political leaders have indicated that the public pressure currently being exerted by Netanyahu is likely the only factor that may lead to the resumption of the delayed shipments.
