After Hunger Strike, Qaddafi's Son Hospitalized in Lebanon

Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi announced on Thursday that one of the sons of the late Libyan President Muammar Qaddafi, Hannibal, is receiving medical care in a hospital in Lebanon following his hunger strike two weeks ago in protest of his imprisonment without trial since 2015. Mawlawi stated that "Hannibal Qaddafi was transferred yesterday, Wednesday, from the security forces building where he was held to the hospital after the security staff in the building noticed that his condition had deteriorated."

In turn, Qaddafi's lawyer Rime al-Dabri mentioned that "his condition is continually deteriorating, getting worse every day." She emphasized that he has no connection to the disappearance of Imam Moussa al-Sadr, describing him as a "political hostage for undisclosed purposes," noting that "he was two years old" at the time of that incident. Hannibal was arrested in Lebanon after the public prosecutor accused him of hiding information about the fate of Imam al-Sadr. Hannibal Qaddafi fled Libya in 2011 after the uprising against his father's rule, eventually reaching Syria, from which, according to al-Dabri, he was kidnapped to Lebanon in 2015.
