Macron Discusses Situation in Ukraine, Gaza, and Lebanon with Biden

After celebrating the 80th anniversary of D-Day, French President Emmanuel Macron is hosting U.S. President Joe Biden today, Saturday, for an official visit marked by grandeur and accompanied by a parade, in addition to discussions about trade, Israel, and Ukraine. The two leaders, who have a good relationship despite previous tensions over a submarine deal with Australia, will participate in a welcoming ceremony with their wives at the famous Arc de Triomphe and attend a parade on the Champs-Élysées before holding a political meeting followed by dinner.

White House spokesperson John Kirby stated that the two countries will announce a plan to work together on maritime law enforcement, with the U.S. Coast Guard and the French Navy expected to discuss increasing cooperation. Biden and Macron are also anticipated to discuss strengthening NATO, and both have pledged support for their countries' aid to Ukraine, although they have yet to agree on a plan to use frozen Russian assets to assist Kyiv. Additionally, the two leaders will review developments in Gaza and Lebanon. An official from the U.S. Treasury noted on Tuesday that the United States and its G7 partners are making progress in this regard.
