Russian President Vladimir Putin stated, "Enemies are trying to change the situation within Russia, and we will not allow them to do so." Putin's remarks came after Ukrainian forces targeted Russian regions with missiles and drones. Alexander Bogomaz, the governor of the Bryansk region, announced in a series of posts on Telegram today, Friday, that "two villages in the region were bombed by Ukrainian forces, but there were no casualties." Officials reported that attacks have increased from northern Ukraine, stating, "Ukrainian forces attempted yesterday, Thursday, to cross the border into the Belgorod region, marking the first incursion of its kind."
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov indicated that "at least one bombardment incident was reported overnight in the Shebekino area, resulting in the evacuation of more than 2,500 people from the region." He also announced the deaths of two women and injuries to two others when Ukrainian forces bombed a road in the town of Maslovka Bryansk near the Ukrainian border.
Reuters has not yet verified the reported attacks on the villages of Lomakovka and Novaya Pogosh near the borders with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions in Ukraine.
In another context, the acting governor of the Smolensk region in western Russia announced today that "two long-range drones targeted fuel and energy infrastructure in the region overnight, but there were no reports of injuries or fire." He added that "the attack targeted the towns of Divas and Peresna near the regional capital Smolensk, which is about 270 kilometers from the Ukrainian border," but did not disclose who was responsible for the attack. This follows a day after the Belgorod governor announced that Ukrainian forces bombed the town of Shebekino.
