Bayer Leverkusen has secured its grip on the top of the Bundesliga by defeating visiting Bayern Munich 3-0 on Saturday evening in the highlight of matchday 21 at the BayArena. The goals for Leverkusen were scored by Josip Stanisic (18), Alejandro Grimaldo (50), and Jeremy Frimpong (90).

With this result, Bayer Leverkusen moved up to 55 points at the top of the table, while Bayern Munich remained at 50 points in second place.

Leverkusen created the first threat in the match in the 11th minute, capitalizing on a mistake from Upamecano in ball distribution, and Andrej Kramaric shot from inside the area but Neuer saved it. Bayern responded immediately in the 13th minute with a shot from Goretzka from the edge of the area that went over the crossbar.

Leverkusen sharpened its fangs in the 17th minute, with Kramaric receiving a nice through ball to break away from Neuer, but he was a bit delayed and was thwarted by Min-jae. Leverkusen managed to open the scoring in the 18th minute after Andrić sent a low cross from the left side that found Stanisic completely unmarked inside the area, who fired a shot that found the net.

Leverkusen almost doubled the lead in the 23rd minute with Tila receiving a long ball inside the area, but his volley was saved by Neuer. Immediately after, Tah rose to meet a corner kick and delivered a powerful header that Neuer brilliantly saved.

Kramaric appeared again in the 36th minute with a header, but it was weak and went straight to Neuer. In the 41st minute, Hincapié struck a powerful long-range shot that sailed over the crossbar, ending the first half with Leverkusen leading 1-0.

Leverkusen added a second goal in the 50th minute after Grimaldo received a through ball inside the area, broke away from Neuer, and scored. Bayern attempted to reduce the deficit in the 52nd minute with a follow-up from Pawel to a cross inside the area, but his volley went over the crossbar.

Leverkusen sought to attack again in the 59th minute with a low shot from Tila from the right side of the area, which Neuer caught. Grimaldo aimed to surprise Neuer in the 63rd minute by executing a deceptive corner kick directly towards the goal, but his shot struck the post.

Substitute Frimpong wanted to get on the scoresheet with a low shot from inside the area in the 74th minute that went past the post. The post was kind to Bayern Munich in the 88th minute, as it deflected a low shot from Frimpong inside the area.

In the fifth minute of added time, Neuer advanced strangely for a corner kick, allowing Leverkusen to regain possession and Frimpong succeeded in scoring into the empty net, concluding the match with a 3-0 victory for Leverkusen.
