Egyptian Defenses Shoot Down Flying Object Near Dahab City

Egyptian media reported on Saturday the crash of a flying object off the coast of Dahab, overlooking the Gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea. According to eyewitnesses cited by "Cairo News Channel," the object fell about one and a half kilometers from the shores of Dahab. The channel also reported from high-level sources that Egyptian air defenses detected the flying object and dealt with it immediately. According to the same source, investigation teams have been dispatched to the site of the crash.

Egypt experienced two incidents in the region of South Sinai last October. The military spokesperson for the Egyptian armed forces stated at that time that "investigations into the incidents that occurred in Taba and Nuweiba in South Sinai revealed that they were caused by the crash of two drones heading from the south of the Red Sea to the north."

The Egyptian military spokesperson announced in a statement that "in the context of monitoring the results of ongoing investigations by the specialized committee regarding the crash of an unidentified object in Nuweiba and a drone in Taba, the analysis and collection of information revealed that two drones were heading from the south of the Red Sea to the north." He added at that time that "one of them was targeted outside Egyptian airspace in the Gulf of Aqaba area, resulting in some debris falling in an uninhabited area in Nuweiba, while the other fell in Taba."

At that time, Israeli military spokesperson Avichai Adraee confirmed that the Israeli army detected an aerial threat in the Red Sea area, prompting the deployment of warplanes to address it. Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Lior Hayat, accused "the Houthi group of being behind the incidents."
