Hashem Safi al-Din, the head of the Executive Council of "Hezbollah," stated that when the Israeli enemy targeted the leader of Hamas, Saleh al-Arouri, along with several of his brothers in the southern suburbs of Beirut, it intended to achieve a goal, as articulated by its leaders, of killing a Hamas leader. However, it also aimed to send a strong message to the heart of the southern suburbs, the resistance, its people, and its weapons.
Safi al-Din emphasized that it was natural, obligatory, and necessary to respond to this attempt. He noted that if they did not respond to the targeting of the suburbs, the enemy would receive the message that Hezbollah is deterred, weak, or unable to face confrontation, which would lead the enemy to become more aggressive in its actions.
His remarks were made during a commemorative ceremony held by the party for its member Hussein Hadi Yazbek at the Husayniyya of the town of Burj al-Shimali. He pointed out that the events of the previous day, as stated in the Islamic Resistance's declaration, were an initial response and not the entirety of the retaliation for targeting the suburbs. This suggests that there are additional responses to be expected, which the enemy should await.
Regarding the targeting of Mount Meron, he noted its significance as the highest elevation in occupied Palestine, which the Israelis considered neutral or undetectable. He added that targeting the Miron air base sends several messages: First, that this site is crucial for directing aircraft, containing radars and supporting the Israeli air force that bombed the suburbs. Therefore, targeting the Miron base is an attack on the air force that targeted the suburbs, representing a direct message.
Safi al-Din addressed Israel, stating that if they believe there are neutral bases that cannot be targeted, he asserts that there are no neutral or undiscovered bases before the missiles and capabilities of the resistance. Consequently, all sites within the Zionist entity are within the range of the resistance's missiles and are targets that can be reached.
