Strida Geagea: The Policy of Waiting for External Initiatives is a Failure

Deputy Strida Geagea chaired a meeting of the administrative body of the "Mount Lebanon Foundation" in Maarab, affirming that "the policy of waiting for external initiatives to solve internal crises proves its failure once again." She pointed out that as the "Lebanese Forces Party," we said from the very beginning that the only solution to the presidential election issue is the implementation of the constitution and holding open election sessions that follow one another until a president is elected. Everyone must understand that those who do not want to implement the constitution for flimsy excuses are indeed obstructing the presidential elections and working to undermine the establishment of a state in Lebanon where no voice is above the voice of the law.

Geagea also called on the relevant judicial authorities currently handling the Qurna al-Sawdah file to expedite the judicial process and not procrastinate, to uncover the truth regarding the killing of the martyrs Malik and Haitham Touq. She addressed the file of the port explosion, noting that the third anniversary coincides this coming Friday, sending "a message of love and great appreciation to the families of the martyrs and the injured enduring their deep wounds and pain," assuring them that "we will not rest nor remain quiet until we reach the truth and hold those responsible for this crime accountable."

She concluded by congratulating the army commander, officers, and soldiers, praising "the significant efforts made to keep the military institution cohesive during the most difficult economic and financial crisis Lebanon is experiencing." The meeting was attended by former deputy Joseph Iskandar, the deputy president of the foundation Leila Geagea, treasury secretary Fadi Shadiak, secretary Mario Saab, public body member Nadim Salameh, financial expert Fadi Eid, and Geagea's assistant Romanos Al-Shahr. The attendees discussed the issues concerning the foundation, including social, medical, and healthcare assistance, and reviewed the monthly report presented by Salameh on the progress of the rehabilitation project for the Antoine Khoury Melkite Toulk Hospital in Bsharri.
