Lebanon's caretaker Foreign Minister, Abdullah Bou Habib, made a phone call to Cypriot Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos, expressing Lebanon's reliance on Cyprus's positive role in supporting stability in the region. For his part, the Cypriot minister reaffirmed the statement issued by the President of Cyprus yesterday, indicating that the country hopes to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. He stressed that Cyprus is not willing to become involved in any way in the ongoing war in the region. He further clarified that the decision to close the Cypriot embassy for one day was pre-determined for administrative reasons related to the visa system, and it will resume normal operations starting tomorrow. In conclusion, the two ministers emphasized the depth of the friendly relations between the two countries and the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both peoples.
