The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation, "Europol," reported today, Tuesday, that "Bosnian police, supported by international law enforcement agencies, raided dozens of locations and arrested 23 people suspected of working for one of the European drug trafficking kingpins who is currently serving a prison sentence." The Bosnian prosecutor's office stated in a declaration that among those arrested in the raids in Sarajevo, Mostar, and Zenica on Monday were several senior police officials suspected of involvement in organized crime and money laundering. The suspects are being interrogated to determine whether formal charges will be brought against them. In a statement, Europol noted that "Europol supports the action taken by the Bosnian police yesterday, which marks another milestone in the fight against what is termed the 'super cartel,' a coalition of criminal networks that control a significant portion of the cocaine trade in Europe." They stated that the primary objective of the operation was to capture the close circle of a drug lord holding both Bosnian and Dutch nationalities, who was convicted and sentenced in the Netherlands in 2023 but may still be managing drug trafficking operations in South America, Europe, and Australia.
