Russia: Volcano Threatens Air Travel!

The media office of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies in Kamchatka announced that "the Bezymyanny volcano emitted a column of dangerous volcanic ash on July 25, reaching a height of 12 km." The statement indicated that the volcano was assigned a red alert level due to the danger it poses to both local and international flights. The statement mentioned, "Volcanic ash particles pose a serious threat to all types of aircraft flying over Kamchatka on local and international routes."

According to the statement, the column of volcanic ash is spreading eastward towards the Bering Sea. It pointed out that there are no inhabited areas along its path, but scientists warn of the danger of approaching the volcano. Experts from the Institute of Volcanoes and Earthquakes affiliated with the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences indicate that the eruption does not pose a threat to nearby populated areas, but it does represent a risk to tourists and workers at the Kumrosh gold and silver deposit, as well as flights.
