The White House stated on Monday that "Israel" has the right to respond to Hezbollah's attack, referring to the strike in the occupied Golan Heights that resulted in the deaths of 12 boys and girls attributed to Hezbollah. However, it noted that no one wants a widespread war. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said, "Israel has every right to respond to Hezbollah's attack." He added in a call with journalists, "No one wants a broader war, and I am confident we will be able to avoid such an outcome."
On another note, Kirby mentioned that there are no indications that the strike carried out by Hezbollah over the weekend will affect hostage talks. He pointed out that negotiations regarding a ceasefire and the release of hostages are ongoing. These statements come as "Israel" is considering its response to the missile attack from Lebanon over the weekend in the occupied Golan Heights. "Israel" accused Hezbollah on Saturday of being behind the missile strike that killed 12 boys and girls, but the Iran-backed group denied any involvement in the attack.
