Strengthening Syrian-Iranian Cooperation Between Assad and Khaji

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad met on Monday with Ali Asghar Khaji, Senior Adviser to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, and his accompanying delegation. President Assad emphasized the depth of relations between the two countries and the necessity of enhancing cooperation and coordination in various fields.

Khaji had previously met with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad, where they discussed bilateral relations and developments in regional and international situations. They reaffirmed the importance of strengthening ties between Syria and Iran and the need to continue coordination to achieve the mutual interests of both countries and bring stability to the region.

In a statement to journalists, Khaji clarified that his visit to Syria is part of tours to discuss regional issues, especially those related to bilateral relations and defining their future direction. He noted that "discussions with Mekdad focused on jointly assessing bilateral and regional issues and setting goals to enhance relations between the two countries." Khaji highlighted that "the new government in his country has the will and determination to strengthen these relations in all areas," adding that the enhancement of these relations continues according to the established timeline and the previous agreements signed by the two countries.
