Mufti Deryan Visits Al-Maqasid Hospital in Solidarity: "It Will Not Close Its Doors to Any Patient"

Mufti Deryan Visits Al-Maqasid Hospital in Solidarity:

The Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abd al-Latif Deryan, visited Al-Maqasid Hospital in solidarity following the repeated attacks against it and its medical and administrative staff. He was welcomed by the President of the Al-Maqasid Charitable Islamic Association in Beirut, Faisal Sano, along with the hospital's medical and administrative team, in the presence of Beirut MPs Nabil Badr and Faisal al-Sayegh, the head of the Press Syndicate, Aouni Kakki, and several other personalities.

Mufti Deryan was briefed by Sano on the conditions of the hospital, particularly the emergency department, confirming that "the hospital has not and will not close its doors to any patient. Patients' families should trust the procedures and measures taken by the hospital's management, which considers each patient's situation individually, and it assists those facing financial difficulties as much as possible." He expressed hope that "Lebanon emerges from its ongoing crises so that the hospital can continue providing its humanitarian and medical services to the fullest extent."

Sano thanked Mufti Deryan for his pastoral visit to Al-Maqasid, affirming that it "will remain in service to both its Islamic and national community in cooperation with the Dar al-Fatwa, which embraces all Muslims and Lebanese." For his part, Mufti Deryan asserted that the targeting of Al-Maqasid Hospital is not acceptable according to religious law or the law itself, as it harms a long-standing service institution, affecting a large segment of citizens who seek treatment there.

He added, "Any affront to the dignity of any doctor, nurse, or any employee within the hospital's premises is an affront to each one of us. The Dar al-Fatwa is keen on the Al-Maqasid Association with all its medical, health, educational, and service institutions, so let us all preserve the sanctity of our Islamic and national institutions."

He continued, "Al-Maqasid Hospital has been and will remain a symbol of resilience and dedication in providing healthcare regardless of the circumstances Lebanon faces, remaining distinguished in responding to the call of every patient." He concluded by urging the state and relevant institutions, particularly security ones, to take deterrent measures to ensure the safety of the hospital, its workers, and everyone seeking healthcare and medical attention.
