Will Henry Take Over as Coach of the French National Team?

Philippe Diallo, the president of the French Football Federation, has not ruled out the possibility of appointing Thierry Henry as head coach of the national team, succeeding the current coach Didier Deschamps. Diallo stated in an interview with French channel RMC Sport: "When I decided to appoint Henry as coach of the Olympic team, some doubted this move based on his coaching achievements." He added: "But I had faith in him, and he proved to be worthy of that trust." He continued: "We have an important step ahead of us, and next year there will be another step in the Under-21 European Championship, so we need to complete each step before thinking about anything else." Thierry Henry dreams of gifting his country an Olympic gold medal for the second time since winning it in 1984 against Brazil, as the team will face Spain next Friday in the Paris Olympic final. As for Deschamps, who has been leading the French team since the summer of 2012, his contract will end after the 2026 World Cup. It is worth noting that many reports have suggested Zinédine Zidane as a potential candidate to lead France when Deschamps leaves his position.
