Iranian authorities announced that an earthquake struck the city of Kashmar in the Khorasan Razavi province on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of at least 4 people and injuring over 120. They reported that among the 120 injured, 35 were transferred to the hospital for treatment. The governor of Kashmar stated that two of the fatalities died while fleeing the earthquake, while the other two were trapped under the rubble. Local authorities in Khorasan Razavi province, northeastern Iran, noted that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5 on the Richter scale. Local officials informed the state television that a rescue and search team was dispatched to the area immediately following the earthquake. The same source confirmed that the earthquake caused significant damage to mostly buildings. Meanwhile, the Seismological Research Center at the Geological Institute of Tehran University announced that the quake occurred at a depth of 6 km below the surface.
